Wendy Ackrell is a painter, fiber artist, and writer who has lived in San Francisco for more than twenty years. She graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in English Literature, and her passion is exploring abstraction in various visual arts in concert with the power of language.
So far this year, Wendy participated in stARTup Art Fair LA; had a two month solo show,Continuum, at The Apothecarium Marina; and exhibited over a dozen works for two months at CounterPulse, a nonprofit performing arts theater and community space in the Tenderloin.
Her next solo show, Women’s Work, will be held at The Apothecarium Castro from October 1 — December 2.
She has been chosen to be one of five artists interpreting poetry by five renowned Bay Area poets for SF Beautiful’s Muni 2020 project, Hidden Gems in San Francisco. One hundred buses will be carrying these paintings and poems from January to May of next year.
Wendy is a Mastermind group leader and forum moderator for Thrive Art Studio, an online women’s art collective.
